accio-time-vortex asked: I was reading your post about how you dislike Christians forcing their belief onto others, and I just have to say while those Christians undoubtedly exist *cough*RickPerry*cough*, I sincerely hope you know how much of a stereotype that is. Any Christians (living in the first world at least) who feel they are "oppressed" and evangelize every second of every day need a wake-up call. Thanks...
sageoflogic asked: The Amazing Atheist, like Richard Dawkins, good when talking about atheism, but is a total dick otherwise. Very sexist. I wasn't the submitter but that's the consensus amongst most that dislike The Amazing Atheist.
bigbosssolidsnape asked: Why do you dislike The Amazing Atheist? What exactly is it about him that "blows?"
America, you crazy
As a European I have no problems being an atheist most of the time. My mother works for the freaking church (as a clerk, but still - she is on that trip) and we have a harmonious relationship in which I only pipe up when she infringes on something I know more about. She thinks it is wonderful I have my own world view.
Now, the craziness that is the American religious landscape is not only...

Anonymous asked: what's so bad about Christians?
Anonymous asked: You seem a little obsessed. You know, you don't have to be either if you're asking the right questions about life. Seems about as sensible as a war between pro-Santa and anti-Santa movements. The whole lot of you are zealots, atheists are as bad as the theists. And that's the real shit that blows.
Anonymous asked: Just wondering, how many submissions do you get? I submitted something a while back and am a little sad I haven't seen it yet.

Up until now, this lady has stayed completely out of any discussion of the atheist/skeptical community and misogyny/sexism.
I didn’t want to get involved. I felt that people wrote enough words, discussing sexism to the point of overwhelming inanity. I stayed out of elevatorgate, convinced that other people...

Anonymous asked: Just to let you know, your theme won't load at all on Google Chrome. Which is sad, 'cause I like it.
perceptualobfuscator asked: Telling an atheist you'll pray for them disrespects their opinions, values and beliefs regarding religion. An atheist is not interested in religion, so why is it being offered in their time of need/daily life? Doing so sends a message that you don't think the atheist can make their own decisions, and that the decisions they have made should be disregarded. It also does nothing for an...
montypla asked: I agree with you, actually. The idea that a supposedly good omnipotent being would just basically tell most of the world to piss off because of their beliefs is preposterous. At the same time though, I know why people who believe think that way, since it's been taught to them for years. All we can do I guess, I explain why that offensive and try to change their minds, at least a bit.
Anonymous asked: I don't think its right for a Christian to say they'll pray for you when you tell them you're an atheist. But at the same time I don't understand why it bothers atheists when Christians say, "I'll pray for you/your family" or "I'll keep you in my prayers" when something bad happens, like a family member gets cancer or there is a death in the...
pallas-ath3na-deactivated201202 asked: I live in Iceland, and I think most of the people here deep down just know that there is no god so atheism isn't looked down upon at all. It feels really strange to read about all the oppression on this blog. Keep fighting, fellow atheists!
Anonymous asked: I appreciate that many of these situations really are bad for atheists. But the ones that boil down to "When people say they'll pray for me" are a bit dumb. Would you rather they say "Have fun in the fiery furnaces of Hell, bitch"? They aren't praying just for you, it's also for their own peace. They don't want to think that a dear friend will not experience...

Anonymous asked: Reading these make me so sad. My friends and family members (that I care about) have always been supportive of what I believe. I'm really sorry that this has happened to so many of you guys.

Hi all!
I don’t normally talk about other sites or anything, but I feel like this one is something pretty meaningful, particularly since the new year is approaching quickly.
It’s called Resolution ‘12, and their idea is this:
Resolution ‘12–it’s pretty simple, really. Some of us began to have a conversation about New Year’s resolutions. We realized that almost all of the resolutions...

Anonymous asked: That landover baptist thing, A friend sent me that a couple weeks ago, how did you find out it's a troll site? I really hope it is, but I really have no idea. Either way it's the funniest and scariest thing I've seen in a while.

fat-thin-atheism asked: It says they should be registers like sex offenders, not as. there is a difference, but it is still a shame that people think that we need out own registry.
carcinophilia asked: Click on the first link on the google search for "atheists should be registered like sex offenders". It's a forum, and I'm like 99% certain it's all trolling. It's pretty great, actually.

thepinkgloomysprite asked: I like the Christmas graphic. I have a question though; do you plan to do specials relating to other Holidays around this time such as Hanukkah, because I know they may be other atheists/agnostics/irreligious people who were brought up in faiths besides Christianity. I'm not trying to be overly critical I'm just curious.
